Summary
- Actor Rajpal Yadav is serving a six-month sentence in a cheque bounce case.
- Delhi High Court sought a response from the complainant on Yadav's bail plea.
- The case stems from a 2010 loan of Rs 5 crore for a film that failed.

Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav is currently serving a six-month prison sentence after surrendering to Tihar Jail on February 5, 2026. This follows the dismissal of his plea in a long-pending cheque bounce case initiated in 2010.
The Delhi High Court heard Yadav's bail application on February 12, 2026. The court requested the complainant to submit a response to the actor's plea. The matter has been adjourned to Monday, when it will be further considered.
The case originated when Yadav borrowed Rs 5 crore from M/s Murali Projects Pvt Ltd for his directorial venture 'Ata Pata Laapata'. The film's poor performance led to financial difficulties and the current legal proceedings. The court also made remarks regarding Yadav's conduct.
Yadav expressed helplessness regarding repayment, stating he lacked the funds and felt isolated in the industry. Reports suggest several industry members have offered support.
