Veteran actor Rajeev Verma, recognized for his roles in films like 'Maine Pyar Kiya,' has explained his gradual withdrawal from mainstream Bollywood and television. Verma shared that years of routine work and repetitive casting led to a significant loss of interest in the industry.
He revealed that a desire to spend more time with family and friends, and to pursue his passion for theatre, also influenced his decision. Verma noted that after decades of continuous work, personal connections had become almost negligible.
Verma also spoke about being typecast into similar roles, particularly as a father figure, after the success of his earlier performances. He felt producers often offered him the same characters repeatedly, prompting him to step away when he lost enjoyment.
Frustrated with daily television schedules feeling like office work, Verma decided to shift his focus. He has since immersed himself in theatre, literature, and teaching drama, currently running his own theatre group and conducting workshops in Bhopal.
He now aims to utilize theatre as a tool for positive social impact and emphasizes the importance of performing arts for emotional sensitivity and communication across various professions.
