SS Rajamouli's ambitious global adventure thriller, 'Varanasi,' starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra, is currently in production. Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, who plays the main antagonist Kumbha, shared insights into the demanding filming process.
One particular scene involving Sukumaran and Mahesh Babu reportedly required an astonishing 94 to 97 takes and spanned an entire day. Director Rajamouli's pursuit of perfection extended beyond the day's shoot, as he requested the scene be reshot the following day.
Sukumaran praised Rajamouli as the most diligent director he has encountered, noting his early arrivals and meticulous preparation. The filmmaker often arrived by 5:15 am, completing camera setups and rehearsals before the actors' scheduled call times.
'Varanasi' features Mahesh Babu as Rudhra and Priyanka Chopra as Mandakini. The film, with Sukumaran portraying the dangerous, wheelchair-bound Kumbha, is scheduled for a worldwide release on April 7, 2027.
