Raj Kundra's Valentine's Gift: IPL Team Stake

Businessman Raj Kundra shared that his investment in the IPL's Rajasthan Royals franchise was motivated by love rather than just business. He acquired a stake in the team in 2009, presenting it as a Valentine's Day gift to his wife, Shilpa Shetty. This significant investment, reportedly around ₹81.9 crore, was made when the franchise was valued at approximately ₹700 crore.

Kundra highlighted the remarkable growth of the Rajasthan Royals, noting its valuation has since soared to nearly ₹16,000 crore. This makes it one of the IPL's most successful franchises over the years. The team is now owned by a consortium including the Mittal family, Adar Poonawalla, and Manoj Badale. Kundra's past association with the IPL faced scrutiny due to betting allegations, leading to a lifetime ban from cricket-related activities in 2015.
