Radio Duo Faces Licence Axe Over Decency
16 Mar
Summary
- Radio hosts may lose license for indecent content.
- New license conditions last for five years.
- ARN must ensure compliance or face severe penalties.

Radio station ARN Media could have its licences revoked if hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie Henderson violate decency provisions over the next five years. This stringent measure was imposed by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (Acma) following multiple breaches of the commercial radio code of practice.
Acma has placed additional licence conditions on KIIS FM Sydney and KIIS FM Melbourne. These conditions apply to any future shows hosted by Sandilands and Henderson, irrespective of whether they work together or separately. ARN stated it respects Acma's decision and is taking steps to ensure compliance.
The breaches cited by Acma include airing audio clips of staff urinating, a contestant giving an offensive sexual description, and lewd discussions about masturbation and pornography. Sandilands has apologized to Henderson for his on-air conduct on February 20 and is cooperating with ARN's process.
Henderson stated she did not resign but was saddened by the potential end of the breakfast show. Both broadcasters have engaged legal representation as the situation unfolds.
