Radio Hosts Gagged by Non-Compete Clause
31 Mar
Summary
- Former Nova hosts Ben Harvey and Liam Stapleton were unexpectedly gagged.
- A non-compete clause barred them from broadcasting for six months.
- They have now joined KIIS FM Adelaide for a breakfast show.

Ben Harvey and Liam Stapleton, formerly hosts of Nova's Late Drive show, have spoken out about their unexpected departure from the network. Their contracts were not renewed, leading to their immediate removal from airwaves on October 24, 2026, despite their last scheduled broadcast being December 12, 2026. This premature exit was due to a non-compete clause in their contracts, which effectively silenced them for six months.
The popular duo, who previously hosted Triple J's breakfast show, have since secured new roles. They are now set to lead the breakfast show on KIIS FM Adelaide, with their former co-host Belle Jackson joining as a producer. This move comes after their initial surprise at Nova's enforcement of the non-compete clause.
Harvey and Stapleton began their radio careers in Adelaide before co-hosting Triple J's breakfast show from 2016. They returned to Adelaide in 2020 for Nova 91.9's breakfast show, later relocating to Melbourne in early 2023. Their departure from Nova 100 coincided with the launch of a new breakfast show by Lauren Phillips and Jase Hawkins.
