The sixth season of the popular BBC show, Race Across the World, has commenced with five duos setting off on an epic journey. Their destination is Hatgal, located on the northern edge of Mongolia, a staggering 12,000km away.
This ambitious race requires contestants to travel without phones or bank cards, armed only with a GPS tracker and a map. They must navigate across eight countries, following the ancient Silk Road route. The budget is strictly limited to the cost of a plane ticket, approximately £1,297 per person, meaning just over £23 per day.
This year's participants include a variety of duos, such as 19-year-old Liverpudlians Jo and Kush, siblings Katie and Harrison with their contrasting personalities, and in-laws Mark and Margo who have bonded through shared family hardship.
Also competing are cousins Puja and Roshni, seeking independence, and father-daughter team Andrew and Molly, navigating their own familial dynamics. The first leg of their journey sees them racing to Fiskardo, Kefalonia, in Greece.
The show is lauded for its kind, sincere, and compelling format, offering viewers armchair travel and a deep dive into relatable human experiences during a lifetime's journey.
