Stunt performer Sanober Pardiwalla recently shared a harrowing experience from the filming of Mani Ratnam's 2010 movie Raavan. Pardiwalla, who served as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's body double, narrowly escaped a serious accident during a critical cliff-jump sequence.
While executing a stunt at a 150-foot cliff-side waterfall, an unforeseen technical issue caused Pardiwalla to be left hanging precariously mid-air for approximately 30 minutes. This incident underscored the often-overlooked aspect of stunt work: managing unexpected complications.
Pardiwalla emphasized that preparation involves not only executing the stunt but also remaining calm, managing one's breathing, and trusting the safety systems when things go awry. Despite the ordeal, the sequence was recognized and later nominated for a Taurus World Stunt Award.
The film Raavan, released in 2010, featured a prominent cast including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan. It was filmed concurrently in Hindi and Tamil, with AR Rahman composing the music. The movie garnered mixed reviews upon its release.
