Actor R Madhavan has voiced concerns that younger generations are drifting away from Indian cinema, showing a preference for global entertainment like Japanese anime and Korean dramas. He noted this trend impacts even his 20-year-old son's age group, indicating a significant disconnect with the current Indian film landscape. Madhavan suggested this shift means Indian cinema isn't competing with other film industries but with an entirely different storytelling medium.

Madhavan acknowledged that pursuing conventional commercial films could ensure consistent success. However, he opted for roles that allow him to explore the depth of his acting craft, reflecting his life experiences. He emphasized that storytellers, directors, and actors have a responsibility to be inspirational and create meaningful cinema, a challenge he feels the industry must address globally.

The actor's upcoming film, 'GDN,' profiles Gopalaswamy Doraiswamy Naidu, an inventor from Coimbatore, known as the 'Edison of India.' Naidu, despite lacking formal engineering education, pioneered India's first electric motor and worked on developing a car comparable to a Mercedes in pre-independence Tamil Nadu.
