The 12th edition of Qumra, an initiative by the Doha Film Institute, will feature Mexican stars Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna as Qumra Masters. They will be joined by directors Faouzi Bensaïdi and Alice Diop, and composer Gustavo Santaolalla.
These esteemed Masters will share their experiences through talks and one-on-one mentorship with directors and producers from approximately 50 DFI-grant recipient projects. Qumra is central to the DFI's mission of supporting filmmakers globally.
Previous attendees have achieved significant recognition, including Cannes Camera d'Or and Academy Award nominations. The program provides emerging talent with crucial artistic, professional, and global exposure.
DFI CEO Fatma Hassan Alremaihi emphasized Qumra's role in fostering creative trajectories through mentorship. Artistic Advisor Elia Suleiman highlighted the event's focus on opening doors and reshaping perceptions in filmmaking.
