Artefacts previously used by Queen Elizabeth II have successfully raised £15,050 for Cancer Research UK. These significant items were donated by Bruno Peek, a former royal pageant master who dedicated 40 years to organizing royal celebrations. Among the sold items were beacon torches and globes from the Queen's Golden, Diamond, and Platinum Jubilees.
The most valuable piece, a Diamond Jubilee "Diamond" that was displayed at the Tower of London, sold for £4,400. Another notable sale was the Platinum Jubilee Commonwealth Nations Globe, which brought in £3,800. Peek, recently diagnosed with incurable blood cancer, expressed his hope that the buyers would cherish the items as much as he did.
Peek, who retired in 2024, aims for the proceeds to support research into blood cancer. He stated that his diagnosis made the fundraising effort even more poignant, highlighting the urgent need for advancements in cancer research. The items were auctioned by Bonhams on March 23.
