Queen Mary of Denmark recently debuted a reimagined historical jewel, Queen Alexandrine's sapphire tiara, for the first time on Monday evening. This significant redesign allows the piece to be versatile, functioning as a tiara, necklace, or brooch. The Royal Collection acquired this jewel, originally a wedding present from 1898, in 2024.
In collaboration with designers Diana Holstein and Hanan Emquies, Queen Mary helped give the piece a new, reversible design. This update respects its history while making it usable for contemporary fashion. This initiative follows a previous successful collaboration where a necklace was transformed into the Rose Stone Diadem.
The redesigned sapphire jewel perfectly complemented Queen Mary's navy ensemble at a state banquet. The event also marked the state banquet debut of Crown Prince Christian, the eldest son of Queen Mary and King Frederik, highlighting a new generation's participation in royal traditions.
