Queen's historic 1986 concert in Budapest, a landmark performance as the first by Western rock artists behind the Iron Curtain, is set to be released in cinemas and IMAX worldwide on October 7. This event marks the 40th anniversary of the original concert.
The film, titled "Queen Budapest," has been meticulously restored in 4K by Park Road Post Production in New Zealand. It showcases the band's performance at Budapest's Népstadion on July 27, 1986, during their acclaimed Magic Tour.
This was the final live performance of Queen to be filmed with their iconic frontman, Freddie Mercury. The screening will feature classic hits such as "We Will Rock You" and "Bohemian Rhapsody," offering a powerful emotional connection to fans who once considered listening to such music forbidden.
Prior to its global release, "Queen Budapest" will have its world premiere at the Budapest Classics Film Marathon on September 15, with a U.K. premiere following in London on September 30. The film's soundtrack will be available on October 30.
