Purana Qila Hosts Captivating Classical Dance Festival in Delhi

On November 11, 2025, the first edition of the Indraprastha Nritya Mahotsav, a three-day classical dance festival, opened to a spellbound audience at the Purana Qila in Delhi. Organized by the Delhi Tourism department, the event aims to showcase the richness of classical dance forms and revive the cultural spirit of Indraprastha.
The festival brings together renowned artists such as Madhavi Mudgal, Jayarama Rao, and Deepak Maharaj, who will be performing a variety of classical dance styles, including Kathak, Odissi, Manipuri, and Bharatanatyam. The opening day featured captivating performances that celebrated the five elements of nature and the origins of life.
Niharika Rai, the MD and CEO of the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation, shared that the idea behind hosting the festival at the Purana Qila is to honor the city's history, heritage, and culture. Delhi's Minister of Tourism and Culture, Kapil Mishra, who was the chief guest, urged the people of Delhi to witness the glory of Indian classical dance forms at the iconic Old Fort.
The Indraprastha Nritya Mahotsav, which concludes on November 13, 2025, aims to create awareness about classical arts and provide a platform for art lovers to come together and celebrate the rich cultural legacy of the city.
