Punjabi Star AP Dhillon Rejects Bollywood Offers, Cites Exploitation

In a recent interview, Punjabi music star AP Dhillon opened up about his decision to consistently turn down offers to sing Bollywood songs. Dhillon explained that his refusal is not about Bollywood itself, but rather about setting an example and protecting artists from exploitation.

Dhillon revealed that several major Bollywood actors had approached him, wanting to use his music in their films. However, he refused these deals because the Bollywood industry typically wants to "own the song, the rights to the song, the remix rights" and "exploit" the artist's work for their own profit. Dhillon stated firmly that this practice is "not correct" and that he will only collaborate if the industry first changes the way it does business.

The singer further elaborated that he is refusing these offers not just for himself, but to protect junior artists from facing similar exploitation. Dhillon explained, "If I do it, then junior artists will also have to do it, and I don't want them to." His stance on maintaining control over his music and rights is a clear message to the Bollywood industry to reform its practices.

Despite his refusal to do Bollywood playback singing, Dhillon has collaborated with Bollywood stars Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt on his previous track "Old Money," which was released in August 2024. As he gears up for his upcoming "One of One India Tour" across eight cities starting in December 2025, Dhillon continues to set an example for how artists should value their work and rights.
