Pumpkin Carving Prodigy Transforms Gourds into Masterpieces

As of October 25th, 2025, Adam Bierton, a pumpkin carving expert, has been captivating audiences with his intricate and imaginative creations for over a decade. The 42-year-old, who hails from Rochester, New York, first discovered his passion for pumpkin carving during his high school years, where he explored various artistic mediums like clay, plaster, metal, and glass.

In 2012, Bierton and his wife moved to Brooklyn, where he connected with the Maniac Pumpkin Carvers, a local sculptural team. His talents soon caught the eye of the Food Network, and he went on to win the Halloween Wars competition, solidifying his reputation as a "Professional Pumpkin Carver."

Since then, Bierton has been working with the New York Botanical Garden, where he carves massive 2,000-pound pumpkins live for visitors. He shares his tips and tricks, often engaging with children and families to inspire their own pumpkin carving creativity. Bierton's pumpkin carving season extends from early September to November, as he balances his passion with running a fried chicken restaurant and raising three young children under the age of 10.

Despite the challenges of his busy schedule, Bierton remains dedicated to his craft, often working late into the night to bring his pumpkin visions to life. He finds inspiration in his children's creativity and the unique character of each pumpkin he encounters, from their shape and size to their subtle expressions. Bierton's goal is to push the boundaries of traditional jack-o'-lanterns, encouraging people to think outside the box and have fun with their pumpkin creations.
