Psychic Fever: Embracing Differences, Redefining J-Pop

Psychic Fever has released their second full-length album, titled "Different," on July 10, 2025. This 10-track record is built around the concept that the seven distinct members of the group create something unique through their differences. The album showcases a diverse range of musical influences, including Y2K-inflected R&B, U.K. garage, Afrobeats, trap, and ballads, with production contributions from Grammy-nominated Rykeyz.

The members emphasize that "Different" represents their core philosophy, viewing individual differences as strengths and refusing to be confined to a single genre or identity. They express respect for K-pop's global impact while aiming to authentically represent Japan and contribute to a growing international appreciation for Japanese music.

Psychic Fever, which debuted in 2022 as part of Exile Tribe, has already established a significant international touring presence, spanning 17 countries. Their 2024 single "Just Like Dat" achieved widespread success, garnering over 270 million TikTok views. This momentum continued into 2025 with their first U.S. tour, a global record deal with Warner Music Group and 10K Projects, and a performance at SXSW.

The group highlights the importance of genuine fan connections fostered through social media and live performances, noting that music's emotional resonance transcends language barriers. Themes of embracing diverse heritage and finding strength in individuality are personal to members like Jimmy, who has Nigerian and Japanese roots, and Weesa, who is of Moroccan and Korean descent. The album's focus track, "If You're Mine," features a music video depicting both energetic and choreographed sequences.
