The 55th International Film Festival Rotterdam is set to premiere Ivo M. Ferreira's "Projecto Global." This feature film offers a fictionalized look at Portugal's "years of lead" from 1980 to 1987, a period of political terrorism following the 1974 Carnation Revolution.
The narrative unfolds in Lisbon after the revolution brought democracy but also economic and social upheaval. It centers on the Forças Populares 25 de Abril, a group allegedly led by Otelo Saraiva de Carvalho, which defended the revolution's achievements through controversial actions.
"Projecto Global" zooms in on the internal struggles, personal relationships, and suspense within this revolutionary movement as its purpose becomes blurred. The story follows characters Rosa, Queiroz, and Jaime, and their conflict with Marlow, Rosa's former lover.
