The documentary, directed by Orlando von Einsiedel, journeys back to the 1970s. It centers on P Mahanandia, a 23-year-old artist from Delhi who embarked on an epic bicycle ride to Sweden in pursuit of true love. Mahanandia's childhood prophecy foretold that his wife would come from a distant land. He supported himself by sketching portraits for tourists in Delhi, where he met Lotta Von Schedvin. When she promised to return, and failed to do so, he set out to find her, leaving everything behind.
"The Cycle of Love" features the real P Mahanandia and Lotta Von Schedvin, with actors Chirag Benedict Lobo and Mina Dale portraying their younger selves. The film is slated for release in US theaters on August 28 and UK theaters on September 18, with additional international dates to follow.
Chopra is also an executive producer for the biographical drama "Amri" and is set to star in SS Rajamouli's film "Varanasi."
