Priyanka Chopra-Jonas is making a highly anticipated return to Indian cinema in Varanasi, the latest project from director S.S. Rajamouli. Following the global success of RRR, Rajamouli’s new epic is described as a globetrotting action film inspired by the Indiana Jones franchise. The production marks a milestone as one of the first Indian films shot specifically for IMAX, promising a massive, immersive scale for audiences.

The film's title refers to India’s spiritual capital, but the story spans the globe. Production recently moved to the African savannah, where the cast and crew filmed on location in Kenya. Chopra-Jonas shared that the experience of filming in the wilderness was profound, noting that being surrounded by wildebeests felt like stepping into a scene from The Lion King. She also recalled filming in close proximity to a family of elephants, highlighting the production's commitment to using real environments rather than relying solely on digital effects.
