This year, over 2,400 submissions were received across the prize's five flagship sectors: Protect and Restore Nature, Clean Our Air, Revive Our Oceans, Build a Waste-Free World, and Fix Our Climate.

The mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, expressed his pride in hosting the Earthshot Prize ceremony, stating, "He's an amazing guy. It's been very nice to see. He took everyone's heart in Rio and we're very proud to have him here."
