Classic Thrillers Hit Prime Video for Fall

Prime Video is enhancing its streaming library for the fall season with a selection of classic horror and thriller films.

Among the new additions is the acclaimed 1991 film "The Silence of the Lambs." This psychological thriller, starring Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins, famously secured Oscars in all five major categories at the 1992 Academy Awards, a rare achievement. Hopkins' brief yet impactful performance as Hannibal Lecter continues to captivate audiences.

Also available is "The River Wild" from 1994, featuring Meryl Streep in an action role as a mother protecting her family during a white-water rafting trip that turns into a hostage situation. Director Curtis Hanson's skillful direction showcases the beauty and danger of the natural setting.

The streamer also added John Carpenter's 1988 cult classic, "They Live." This science fiction film, starring Roddy Piper, presents a dystopian view of Los Angeles where aliens secretly control society. The movie's underlying socialist message and commentary on consumerism remain remarkably relevant today.
