Prime Video has unveiled a preview of its 2026 content slate, signaling a major expansion of Asian storytelling globally. The streamer noted that content originating from Japan, Korea, and India has achieved substantial viewership outside of its English-language programming, demonstrating a growing international appetite for these narratives. Gaurav Gandhi, VP of APAC and ANZ, highlighted this trend during a recent presentation.
The upcoming lineup includes highly anticipated titles such as the new "Ghost in the Shell" anime series, produced by Science SARU, which is set to stream worldwide in July 2026. Additionally, a "Fist of the North Star" reboot will celebrate the franchise's 40th anniversary, utilizing advanced CGI and traditional animation. The presentation also featured a second season of "From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman," which previously ranked in Prime Video's Top 10 across numerous territories.
Building on the success of popular Korean dramas like "Marry My Husband," Prime Video previewed six new Korean titles. These include supernatural romance "Human x Gumiho," meta romantic comedy "Absolute Value of Romance," and psychological thriller "Siren's Kiss." The Indian original film "Don't Be Shy," a coming-of-age drama produced by Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt, was also showcased, with Bhatt discussing the importance of female-forward storytelling for young audiences.
"Content from Japan, Korea, and India is emerging as a powerful cultural force," stated Gandhi. He emphasized Prime Video's long-term commitment to championing these stories, leveraging strong viewer momentum and creator partnerships to bring diverse Asian narratives to a global audience.
