On November 17, 2025, the latest installment of the Netflix murder mystery franchise, "Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery," is set to premiere. The film follows boxer-turned-priest Josh O'Connor as Father Jud Duplenticy, who is accused of murdering the charismatic Monsignor Jefferson Wicks, played by Josh Brolin.
To clear his name, Father Duplenticy joins forces with the suave Southern detective Benoit Blanc, portrayed by Daniel Craig. Together, they must sort through a murderer's row of suspects, including a stellar ensemble cast featuring Glenn Close, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church.
Local police chief Geraldine Scott, played by Mila Kunis, tells Father Duplenticy that he was the only one on stage with the Monsignor at the time of the crime. Duplenticy insists he is innocent, declaring, "Everyone thinks I did it. I didn't do it." The trailer shows him with blood on his hands after being sent to assist Wicks in a small-town church with secrets.
Directed by Rian Johnson, who has been Oscar-nominated twice for his Knives Out films, "Wake Up Dead Man" is set to release on Netflix on December 12, 2025, following a theatrical run starting on November 26, in time for an awards season push.
