- Project promises PG-rated horror-comedy for families.

Dan Trachtenberg, the director behind the recent "Predator" films "Prey" and "Badlands," is now attached to an upcoming animated feature for Paramount Animation. This project will be based on the graphic novel "Freddy the 13th," created by Yehudi Mercado.
The story follows a family vacation that takes a dark turn when Uncle Freddy unintentionally eliminates the Boogeyman. Inheriting the Boogeyman's powers, Freddy must then undertake a quest to lift a curse. The film aims to merge the horror genre with children's animation.
Announced today at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, the untitled film is intended to deliver "wholesome PG-rated scares and laughs to the whole family." Mercado is slated to co-direct, with Trachtenberg and Ben Rosenblatt serving as producers. Paramount Animation's future slate also includes "PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie," set for release on August 14, 2026, an animated "Survivor" adaptation, and Robert Rodriguez's holiday animation "The Naughty List."
