Prayagraj is gearing up for a magnificent Durga Puja celebration as the Bairhana Barwari Durga Puja Committee marks its centenary year. The festivities, scheduled from October 16 to October 20, will culminate on Vijayadashami. Organizers have planned an elaborate theme centered around a 40ft replica of Jaipur's historic Amer Fort, aiming to give the city's celebrations a distinctly royal feel.
The Amer Fort-inspired pandal is under construction in Bengali Tola. While work began in late August, recent rainfall caused some delays. Artisans from Kolkata commenced main construction on September 30, with efforts focused on completing the structure by October 10. Plastic fibre for the replica has been sourced from Gujarat, and a large idol of Goddess Durga will be placed at the pandal's entrance.
Adding to the attractions, a model of the Ram temple in Ayodhya will be displayed for visitors upon entering the pandal. The idol of Goddess Durga is expected to arrive on October 11, well in advance of the centenary celebrations, ensuring a grand start to the event.
