Actress and content creator Prajakta Koli recently visited the Mumbaicha Peshwa pandal in Vile Parle, marking one of her first Ganeshotsav celebrations of the season. For Koli, Ganeshotsav and Gauri Poojan are deeply personal and cherished festivals, unlike more social celebrations like Diwali or Holi.
She reminisces about her childhood in Mumbai, where Ganeshotsav meant visiting many family friends' homes across the city. These yearly excursions were a significant part of her upbringing until work commitments changed her routine.
Koli shared that the city's atmosphere transforms during Ganeshotsav, recalling a beautiful experience of waking up to the sound of dhol and watching a neighboring pandal's Ganpati procession. Her family's Gauri Poojan tradition, which began 21 years ago when she was 12, holds a particularly special place in her heart.
Meanwhile, the Mumbaicha Peshwa pandal in Vile Parle has been renowned for its eco-friendly tissue paper idols since 2008. Initiated to honor a young boy's dream, they scaled up from a five-foot idol to a 22-foot creation this year, also producing 110 smaller idols, some of which are sent internationally.
