His acting career began with a role in BR Chopra's 'Mahabharat' on television. Rawat later made a notable impact in regional cinema, earning his first Filmfare Award for Best Villain in Telugu for his role in SS Rajamouli's 'Sye' in 2004. He also starred in the Tamil original of 'Ghajini' before reprising his role in the Hindi version.
The actor's demise was confirmed by his co-stars, who shared tributes and condolences. Rawat is survived by his wife, Kalyani Rawat, and son, Vikramaditya. His manager confirmed he had been struggling with a cancer relapse, passing away on August 4.
