An artist is creating a large-scale mural in Oviedo to honor Jason David Frank, the actor famously known for portraying Tommy Oliver, the Green Ranger, in the "Power Rangers" franchise. The tribute artwork is taking shape inside the Evolution Martial Arts Academy. Andaluz The Artist, who traveled from New York for the project, began painting the mural on Monday and expects it to be finished by Thursday night.
The mural, measuring approximately 15 feet wide and 9 feet tall, features the Green Ranger alongside dragon-inspired imagery, symbolizing strength and resilience. This project was conceived through discussions with the owner of Evolution Martial Arts Academy, which recently opened in Oviedo. The initiative also aligns with Men's Mental Health Awareness Month, aiming to address mental health conversations sparked by Frank's passing in 2022.
Andaluz stated that the mural is intended to celebrate Frank's legacy while promoting a message of love and support for individuals facing struggles. He highlighted the role of martial arts spaces in fostering community, confidence, and discipline. The academy, located at 1954 W. State Road 426, will be holding a small grand opening event this weekend. Information on viewing the mural can be found by checking the academy's hours online.
