Pop Star Chappell Roan Surprises Fans with Spanish Debut in Mexico

On November 15, 2025, rising pop star Chappell Roan made her debut in Mexico, delivering a captivating performance at the Corona Capital festival in Mexico City. The 27-year-old singer-songwriter, who recently won the 2025 Grammy for Best New Artist, surprised the 75,000-strong crowd by opening her set with a greeting in Spanish.

"¡Hola, buenas noches! Me llamo Chappell Roan," Roan said, revealing that she had been using the language-learning app Duolingo to prepare for her first show in the country. The artist then transitioned to English, asking the audience, "Are you ready to get 'Naked in Manhattan?'" - a reference to one of her hit songs.

Throughout the performance, Roan continued to interact with the enthusiastic crowd, at one point confessing her nerves about playing in Mexico for the first time. "I was really nervous to play this show because I've never played in Mexico before," she admitted. "I'm glad, thank you for showing up, and this is so awesome!"

The singer's set was a grand celebration of her dance and synth-pop hits, but she also paid homage to Mexican culture. Roan donned a bridal gown with veils and lace, her mouth and teeth stained red to simulate blood, in a nod to the country's Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration. "I wanted to be a screaming banshee, and so I was like, I'll be scary cause I feel like Mexico City can handle it," she explained.

The emotional performance, which marked the closing of Roan's Visions of Damsels & Other Dangerous Things Tour, brought tears to the eyes of many fans, who expressed their gratitude for her visit. The young artist is set to continue her Latin American tour, with upcoming performances at Lollapalooza festivals in Chile, Argentina, and Brazil in 2026.
