Actor and producer Pooja Batra shared her perspectives on her career and the film industry during a recent visit to Goa. Batra, who has worked across Bollywood and international projects, noted her deep personal connection with Goa, having visited since childhood and even shooting a film there.
Her production debut, "Echoes of Us," garnered over 80 awards and was screened at the Cannes and Venice Film Festivals. Batra is currently developing two more film projects after acquiring book rights.
Batra also addressed the portrayal of women in Indian cinema, calling the objectification "pathetic" and "weak writing." She questioned the agency of newcomers in the industry, even those with strong backing. While acknowledging progress in discussions around consent and equal pay, Batra asserted that real power shifts on sets and in creative rooms require more women in writing, directing, and producing roles.
