The film's teaser offered a glimpse of its protagonists: a trading card game player and the intriguing ghost/fairy type Pokémon, Mimikyu. Mimikyu, known for its disguise as Pikachu, was first introduced in the seventh generation games.
Direction for "Pokémon: Wild Card" is in the capable hands of Katsuhiko Kitada, with character design by Akemi Hayashi. The acclaimed animation studio CloverWorks, recognized for its work on titles like "Spy X Family," is producing the movie.
