Summary
- Pokemon Home update added a 'GBA games' button.
- Fans speculate this hints at Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald Switch ports.
- Previous Gen 3 footage also fueled port speculation.
Speculation is mounting among fans that Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald could be heading to the Nintendo Switch. This renewed interest was ignited by a recent update to Pokemon Home. This update introduced a new button labeled 'GBA games' within the application's menu.
This 'GBA games' designation, rather than specifically mentioning FireRed and LeafGreen, has led many to believe it's a placeholder for future Game Boy Advance titles. Notably, Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire were previously featured in official footage that appeared unusually clear for their original 2002 release date, further fueling rumors.
The potential for these Game Boy Advance games to be ported to the Switch is significant, especially considering the success of the FireRed and LeafGreen remakes on the platform. The addition of these titles could represent a substantial financial opportunity for The Pokemon Company.
