Bloomsbury India recently unveiled two new titles in its "Pocket Potters" series, expanding a collection of illustrated companion books aimed at introducing younger readers to the world of Harry Potter. First published in 1997, the Harry Potter series has become a global phenomenon. In India, annual sales have grown nearly sevenfold since FY13-14, with lifetime sales exceeding 3 million copies. The series continues to show strong year-on-year growth, with nearly 35 percent of sales now originating from online channels.
Rahul Srivastava, Managing Director of Bloomsbury India, expressed the series' significance in India, stating "Harry Potter has been part of childhood, friendship, and imagination for millions of readers." The "Pocket Potters" series, illustrated by international artists, was created to be warm and welcoming, inviting readers of all ages to connect with the beloved characters. A celebratory, invitation-only event was held in New Delhi to mark the series' debut, featuring booksellers, retailers, and members of the Potter fan community. The event included themed games, quizzes, and a display of Bloomsbury's Harry Potter catalogue, underscoring the franchise's continued resonance.
