Platonic Co-Stars Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne Reunite for Chaotic Second Season

In 2020, Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne agreed to reunite with their Neighbors director Nicholas Stoller and his wife Francesca Delbanco for a new Apple TV+ comedy series called Platonic. The initial plan was for the show to be an anthology series about different kinds of platonic relationships, with Rogen and Byrne's characters featured in the first season.

However, midway through production, Stoller and Delbanco decided they were having too much fun with Rogen and Byrne's characters to let them go. They asked the actors if they would be open to continuing the story, and Rogen and Byrne, who are both executive producers, agreed.

The second season of Platonic, which premiered in September 2025, finds the characters of Sylvia and Will in even more dysfunctional and challenging situations than the first season. Sylvia, played by Byrne, becomes the event planner for Will's (Rogen) lavish second wedding, only to see the engagement fall apart. The finale ends with the two friends agreeing to go into business together, despite concerns that their friendship may not survive the stresses of running a company.

Rogen and Byrne, who have worked together on multiple projects over the past dozen years, reveal their working relationship has only grown stronger and more comfortable over time. They describe an easy camaraderie on set, even during long hours of filming together, and a shared fondness for the show's creators. While they don't believe Sylvia and Will's business venture will end well, they are excited to see what the future holds for their characters and their own on-screen partnership.
