Pink Floyd's seminal 1975 album, Wish You Were Here, has achieved an extraordinary feat, returning to the No. 1 position on the U.K. Albums Chart precisely 50 years after its first chart-topping run. This remarkable comeback establishes a new record for the longest interval between No. 1 appearances on the Official U.K. Albums Chart, surpassing the previous record held by The Beatles.
The resurgence is largely attributed to the release of the 50th-anniversary edition, titled Wish You Were Here 50. This deluxe package offers fans a contemporary Dolby Atmos mix alongside a treasure trove of 25 bonus tracks. Among these are previously unreleased demos and alternate versions of the album's most celebrated songs, including "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" and the title track.
This marks Pink Floyd's second No. 1 album of 2025, following the success of Pink Floyd at Pompeii - MCMLXXII earlier in the year. Guitarist David Gilmour expressed his delight on social media, celebrating the album's Christmas No. 1 status. Meanwhile, the band's 1973 masterpiece, The Dark Side of the Moon, continues its impressive chart presence, having marked 989 weeks on the Billboard 200 in June 2025.
