Piers Morgan is set to launch a new weekly football discussion program titled 'Football Uncensored'. This expansion marks a significant step in growing his digital media empire, which already features series like 'Piers Morgan Uncensored' and 'The Royals Uncensored'.
Morgan will be joined by Simon Jordan, the former owner of Crystal Palace and a TalkSport pundit, as co-host for the new show. The first episode is scheduled to premiere on Monday. Morgan stated his ambition for 'Football Uncensored' to become the most followed and discussed football debate show globally.
The venture follows the success of 'World Cup Uncensored,' which Morgan co-hosted with John Terry and Jordan over the summer. This earlier series reportedly achieved 60 million streams across various social platforms during its 12-episode run.
Morgan highlighted the 'phenomenal' response to the World Cup show, claiming its final episode reached nearly a million views, surpassing other online shows during the tournament. He aims to leverage this momentum for the new series. Jordan expressed his belief that the show will offer much-needed clarity and courage in sports broadcasting, contrasting it with more formulaic programming.
Morgan's media company recently secured $27 million in funding, with backing from figures including Elisabeth Murdoch. Rashida Jones is serving as CEO of Uncensored.
