Pharmacist Turned Vigilante: Domestic Abuse Survivor Seeks Justice

In the upcoming social thriller series "Laura's Treatments," Valérie Bonneton stars as Laura, a pharmacist in a small town who runs a support group for victims of domestic abuse. The four-part series, produced by Tetra Media Fiction and Torcello, takes a gripping look at the failures of the justice system to protect women.

The story unfolds as one of Laura's group members is murdered before her eyes, and another's plea for help goes unanswered. Consumed by grief and anger, Laura is driven to take matters into her own hands, seeking justice for the women she has sworn to protect. The series explores the "lack of justice for women" through the perspective of an ordinary person compelled to act when the institutions meant to help have failed.

According to the co-creators, Marie Kremer and Frédéric Krivine, the series is not based on a true story but draws deeply from real social issues. Director Akim Isker says Bonneton's character reflects "us, the audience" - an individual pushed to the brink by the systemic failures. The actress herself found the role one of the most emotionally challenging of her career, recalling her meetings with real survivors of domestic violence and the sobering statistics on femicide in France.
