The Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) is entering a new era with the appointment of Triin Tramberg as its new artistic director. This significant leadership transition comes as the festival prepares to mark its 30th anniversary this November. Tiina Lokk, the longtime festival director, will now focus on strategic development while continuing as CEO.
Tramberg, a seasoned film curator with over 15 years of experience at PÖFF, has been instrumental in shaping the festival's international profile. Her new role will focus on enhancing PÖFF's curatorial direction and supporting diverse cinematic voices. She aims to keep the festival open, curious, and connected to its global audience.
Further strengthening the festival's team, Dhanushka Gunathilake has been appointed as the head of the Discovery Campus, PÖFF's talent and industry platform. Malaika Bova, an experienced international film curator, will now serve as the curator for PÖFF's First Feature Competition. These appointments signal a renewed commitment to artistic excellence and talent development.
The festival's youth and children's section, Just Film, also sees a leadership change with Jan-Joonas Pevkur stepping in as the new program director. The 30th edition of PÖFF is scheduled for November 6-22, with Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event running from November 9-20, promising a vibrant celebration of cinema.
