Pete Davidson is set to star as the Bonanno crime family enforcer Tommy Pitera in the new crime thriller 'Tommy Karate'. The first images reveal Davidson in extensive prosthetics and a voluminous wig, making him unrecognizable as the titular character. This transformation is for his role as Pitera, a mobster known for his martial arts training and suspected involvement in numerous murders.
Production for 'Tommy Karate' is currently underway in Atlanta. The film draws inspiration from Philip Carlo's book, 'The Butcher: Anatomy of a Mafia Psychopath.' Pitera was convicted of six murders and running a drug operation, leading to his life sentence in 1992. The movie will chronicle his pursuit and capture by DEA Agent Jim Hunt, played by Paul Walter Hauser.
Directed by Justin Chon, who co-wrote the screenplay with Davidson and Joseph Gay, the project aims to reimagine the gangster genre with a contemporary edge. Davidson, who also serves as a producer, described the film as 'the greatest mob story never told' and a 'dream job.' Camila Mendes and Simon Rex are also featured in the cast.
