Mexico's Sin Sentido Films has acquired the remake rights for the critically acclaimed Peruvian comedy, 'The Last Laugh' ('Muerto de risa'). This significant deal was finalized during the Ventana Sur market.
Director, writer, and producer Gonzalo Ladines, who helmed the original film, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership. This is Ladines' second film to have its remake rights sold internationally, with his family comedy 'YouTuber Dad' having previously garnered interest from multiple countries.
The comedy, which recently began streaming on Spain's Filmin, centers on a talk show host who struggles with humor after his father's death. Sin Sentido Films, known for its work with genre cinema and comedies, plans to collaborate with acclaimed actress and screenwriter Tato Alexander for the Mexican adaptation.
