Pepsi Drops Wireless Fest Over Ye Booking
5 Apr
Summary
- Pepsi withdrew sponsorship due to Ye's headline booking.
- Ye's past racist and antisemitic remarks caused backlash.
- UK Prime Minister expressed deep concern over Ye's performance.

Pepsi has announced its withdrawal of sponsorship for the Wireless Festival, slated to take place in London this July. The decision comes shortly after the announcement that Ye would headline all three days of the event.
This booking has ignited widespread criticism due to Ye's history of making racist and antisemitic statements. In recent years, major brands have distanced themselves from the artist over his controversial remarks. Notably, he previously expressed admiration for Adolf Hitler and made derogatory comments about Jewish people.
The Wireless Festival is scheduled to be held at Finsbury Park from July 10 to July 12. Ye's last performance in the UK was in 2015. Festival organizers had previously hailed his UK comeback as an 'extraordinary chapter'.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer described Ye's booking as 'deeply concerning,' given his past antisemitic remarks and celebration of Nazism. The charity Campaign Against Antisemitism also condemned the planned performance and urged the government to ban Ye from entering the UK.
Ye released an apology in January via a full-page ad, attributing his past behavior to bipolar disorder and expressing regret. He stated he is not a Nazi or antisemite and loves Jewish people. However, organizations like the Anti-Defamation League noted that the apology does not erase his extensive history of antisemitic actions and comments.
