Pensacola's rich cultural diversity, a blend of historical influences and global contributions, will be celebrated at the sixth annual Gulf Coast Culture Fest. The event is scheduled for May 30 at Seville Square in downtown Pensacola, running from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This free festival aims to unite the community by highlighting various art forms and culinary experiences.
The Gulf Coast Culture Fest will feature a wide array of performances, including music and dance, alongside poetry readings. Eleven food trucks will offer international cuisines, from Bangkok crispy rolls to street corn. A unique addition this year is the Films For the Culture Film Fest, beginning at 8 p.m. in Seville Square, showcasing films and shorts by local and regional artists.
Founded in 2020 amidst a period of social unrest, the festival's creator, Calvin "Kalvo" Griffin, sought to create a space for unity and shared enjoyment. Griffin emphasized that art transcends language and aims to bring together diverse cultural contributions for everyone to appreciate. The film selections will span various genres, adding another layer to the day's diverse offerings, all accessible to the public without charge.
