In a major development for fans of the hit crime drama "Peaky Blinders," a new sequel series has been ordered by Netflix and the BBC. The new show, set to premiere in the coming years, will take place in 1953 Britain as the city of Birmingham works to rebuild from the devastation of World War II.
The series, once again created by writer and showrunner Steven Knight, will center on a new generation of the iconic Shelby family as they navigate the "brutal contest of mythical dimensions" surrounding Birmingham's massive reconstruction project. Original "Peaky Blinders" star Cillian Murphy is on board as an executive producer, ensuring the new era will stay true to the show's gritty, high-stakes tone.
Produced by Kudos and Garrison Drama, the two-season order will consist of 12 episodes total, each an hour long. The new "Peaky Blinders" era promises to be a thrilling exploration of a city "rising from the ashes of the Birmingham blitz," with the Shelby clan firmly at the heart of the action.
Fans won't have to wait too long for more from the "Peaky Blinders" universe, as an upcoming feature film titled "The Immortal Man" is also in the works. Directed by Tom Harper and written by Knight, the film is expected to pick up where the TV series left off, with Murphy reprising his role alongside an ensemble cast including Stephen Graham, Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth and Barry Keoghan.
