The Pasifika Entertainment Advancement Komiti (PEAK) has announced its second cohort for the 2026 PEAK Producer and Executive Fellowship. This initiative, created by Pasifika producer Averie Joy Maikalima O Makua Huffine, is uniquely designed to support producers and development executives from Pacific Islander backgrounds.
Funded by The Asian American Foundation (TAAF), the fellowship provides fellows with direct access to high-level industry creatives and executives. This mentorship is crucial for refining skills in communication, networking, leadership, and project development, offering a pathway into the traditional studio system. The program has experienced substantial growth, with a 150% increase in applications for its current cohort.
TAAF CEO Norman Chen emphasized the importance of investing in diverse stories and creators, stating it enhances a sense of belonging. PEAK board chair Dana Ledoux Miller expressed pride in welcoming the new cohort and noted the overwhelming response to the fellowship, underscoring the community's strong desire for such developmental opportunities. PEAK plans further expansions, including a writers' fellowship and community screenings.
