Veteran Telugu Actor Pavala Syamala Dies at 75

Veteran Telugu actress Pavala Syamala passed away in the early hours of Tuesday at the age of 75. She had been receiving treatment at Osmania General Hospital following recent health complications related to her age. Reports indicate she suffered a massive cardiac arrest.

Born Nethi Syamala in Andhra Pradesh, she began her career in theatre before making her mark in Telugu cinema. Syamala established herself as a reliable supporting actress, appearing in films such as 'Challenge', 'Swarnakamalam', and 'Guntur Talkies'.

Away from the screen, Syamala endured personal hardships, including the loss of her mother and husband. In her later years, she faced financial difficulties and health issues. Reports emerged earlier this year about her struggle to afford medical treatment, prompting intervention from locals and the police.

Several prominent figures from the Telugu film industry, including Dil Raju, Pawan Kalyan, Chiranjeevi, and Allu Arjun, provided financial assistance. In 2021, filmmakers Raj & DK launched a fundraiser for her, highlighting her daughter's illness and her sale of awards to cover expenses.
