Award-winning chef Patrick O'Connell is releasing a memoir on September 15 titled "Main, Middle & Gay." The book chronicles his life and the transformation of his restaurant, The Inn at Little Washington, from a humble garage to an internationally acclaimed dining destination.
O'Connell, who is 80 years old, described the memoir as an "eight decades in the making" project. He stated that unleashing his personal history was freeing, comparing the assembled story to a "southern, gothic novel."
Founded in 1978 by the Washington D.C. native, The Inn at Little Washington has earned a Michelin star. O'Connell has been recognized with honors such as a lifetime achievement award from the James Beard Foundation and a National Humanities Medal.
