A compelling new documentary, "Breaking Glass: The Pat Summitt Story," is set to premiere on March 25. This film will be available to Hulu subscribers and will later air on ESPN2 on March 29, followed by ESPN on April 5.
The documentary delves into the life and career of the iconic coach of the Tennessee Lady Vols. Executive-produced by Robin Roberts and directed by Dawn Porter, the film largely utilizes Summitt's own narration. It is enhanced by interviews with prominent individuals such as Billie Jean King, Peyton Manning, Dawn Staley, and Tamika Catchings.
Drawing from exclusive archival footage, personal VHS tapes, voice recordings, and photographs, the film chronicles Summitt's remarkable journey. It begins with her childhood on a Tennessee dairy farm and progresses through her historic coaching career at Tennessee, where she achieved 1,098 victories, securing 8 national championships and 16 SEC Tournaments.
"Breaking Glass" also addresses Summitt's courageous public struggle with early-onset Alzheimer's disease. The film was produced through a collaboration involving Trilogy Films, Tribeca Studios, and Rock'n Robin Productions for ABC News Studios. Summitt passed away in 2016 at the age of 64.
