Parvathy Revisits Kanchanamala Role: Actor's Deep Dive

Eleven years after the release of R.S. Vimal's romantic drama Ennu Ninte Moideen, National Award-winning actor Parvathy Thiruvothu has revisited her defining performance as Kanchanamala. The film brought the true story of Kanchanamala and B.P. Moideen, from Mukkam in Kozhikode, to the screen.

Parvathy's portrayal earned her the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress. During her preparation, she spent time with the real Kanchanamala. She focused on observing and listening to understand the woman's personality, choices, and circumstances, emphasizing that relatability is not essential for a strong performance.

She stated that understanding a character's choices and background is paramount, without judgment. Parvathy also highlighted the special collaboration with Prithviraj Sukumaran, who played B.P. Moideen. Their reunion in subsequent films like My Story and Koode further cemented their professional association.

More than a decade later, Kanchanamala remains a significant character in Parvathy's filmography. Her insights offer a valuable perspective on character portrayal, prioritizing a deep understanding of individual circumstances over the actor's personal connection to the role.
