Jackson revealed that she has a perforated septum, a hole in the cartilage or bone between her nostrils, as a result of her substance abuse.
The American Horror Story star explained that she has a "really loud whistle" when she breathes through her nose due to the perforation. While she could undergo surgery to correct the issue, Jackson is adamant about not doing so, as she is almost 6 years sober and doesn't want to risk her sobriety by taking the necessary medications.
"I don't want to get plastic surgery to fix because I'm almost six years sober," Jackson shared. "You have to take pills when you do a surgery that gnarly, and I don't wanna f**k with that." She added that she has been living with the perforated septum since she was around 20 years old.
In January 2020, Jackson celebrated 5 years of being clean and sober from all drugs and alcohol, calling it a milestone she is deeply grateful for. "Gratitude hardly scratches the surface," she wrote at the time. Now, over 5 years later, Jackson continues to prioritize her sobriety, even if it means living with the lasting physical effects of her past addiction.
